Why does my 2014 Audi A4 struggle to start when warm?

A customer brought us a 2014 Audi A4 2.0 TFSI that struggled to restart warm. The starter bound up when hot and drew too much current. We fitted an OE-spec remanufactured starter and checked it after heat soak. Warm starts were reliable afterward.
